Box Score ANNVILLE, Pa. – McDaniel scored late into the second overtime to top Alvernia 2-1 in the first round of the 2017 Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) men's soccer tournament on Saturday.
Jacob Wells (Hanover, Pa./South Western) netted the game-winner for the Green Terror (10-6-2), who advanced to Sunday's quarterfinal matchup with Lebanon Valley.
Chris Guth led the Golden Wolves (10-10-1) with a first-half goal.
Trailing 1-0 at the break, Randall Hilleary (Bonney Lake, Wash./Skyline) converted a penalty kick just 5:20 into the second half to knot the game.
The teams played through another 56 minutes scoreless before Nick Bowman (York, Pa./York Suburban) ran down the right sideline and served the ball to Wells, who one-touched it into the right side for the game-winner with 3:25 to play in the second overtime.
Guth headed home an Austin Young corner in the 33rd minute for a 1-0 lead.
McDaniel finished with a 17-9 advantage in shots, including 5-0 in the overtime periods. Alvernia had a 7-6 edge in corner kicks.
Game time on Sunday is 12 p.m.
