Box Score

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – McDaniel prevailed in a back-and-forth first set to key a 3-0 win over Ursinus in Centennial Conference (CC) volleyball action on Friday.

Taylor Bauman (Charlottesville, Va./Albemarle) recorded 12 digs and three aces to lead a balanced effort for the Green Terror (18-7, 6-4 CC), who remained alive for the conference tournament with the victory. Tied at 16-all in the first set, Hayley Mills (Bowie, Md./St. Vincent Pallotti) put down a kill then joined Lauren Wells (Glen Allen, Va./Glen Allen) to combine on a block to take a two-point lead and force an Ursinus timeout. An Isabel Paci (Ellicott City, Md./River Hill) kill and Emma Lorenzen (Hagerstown, Md./South Hagerstown) ace stretched the lead to 20-16 en route to a 25-20 victory.

Trailing 10-8 in the second set, Lorenzen knocked down a kill to start a stretch of three straight points. The Bears went back in front 15-14 before a service error and block by Mills and Allie Lugar (Wilmington, Del./Dupont) put the visitors back in front. Teryn Rath (Grass Valley, Calif./Bear River) and Lugar added back-to-back kills to stretch the lead to three. Ursinus closed to within one on four occasions down the stretch but Lorenzen knocked down a kill for a 25-23 win.

Keyed by back-to-back Kendall Hanak (Highlands Ranch, Colo./Rock Canyon), the Green Terror built a 7-2 lead in the third set. A pair of Wells kills extended the advantage to 18-9 before four straight Bear points closed the deficit to five and forced a timeout. A Mills kill and Catherina Park (Clarksville, Md./Atholton) ace out of the stoppage keyed a 4-0 counter that moved the scored to 22-13 en route to a 25-18 victory.
