Over makes seven saves in scoreless draw

Box Score

WESTMINSTER, Md. – Both McDaniel and Swarthmore had quality looks but both defenses stood strong for a scoreless draw in Centennial Conference (CC) men's soccer action on Saturday.

Nick Over (Westminster, Md./Winters Mill) backstopped the defense for the Green Terror (7-3-2, 2-3-1 CC) with seven saves.

Oliver Steinglass steadied the defense for the Garnet (4-6-3, 2-1-3 CC) with eight saves of his own.

Swarthmore finished the game with a slim 20-18 advantage in shots, including carrying play late in regulation and during the first extra 10-minute session.

McDaniel, however, carried play in the second overtime, outshooting the Garnet 5-0 in the 10-minute period.

Nick Bowman (York, Pa./York Suburban) and Drake Pew (York, Pa./Dallastown Area) each had four shots to lead the Green Terror. The best chance for the hosts was in the final 2:30 of the second overtime with consecutive headers by Bowman and Pew that were tipped over the crossbar by Steinglass.

Tommy Sheehan led Swarthmore with four shots of his own.

Each team had five corner kicks in a back-and-forth battle

McDaniel returns to action at Wilson on Sunday. Game time is 2 p.m.
