Box Score WESTMINSTER, Md. – McDaniel opened the second half on a 21-2 run to break the game open and defeat Emmanuel 77-48 in non-conference men's basketball action on Tuesday.
Kevin Yrizarry (Owings Mills, Md./Owings Mills) led the Green Terror (5-6) with a double-double, recording 14 points and 10 rebounds. Austin Cannon (Hampstead, Md./Manchester Valley) and Josh McWilliams (Newtown, Pa./Council Rock North) also each netted 14 points.
Will Jessup paced the Saints (1-8) with 10 points and six rebounds off the bench.
Trailing 3-2 early, Isaac Ray (Fredericksburg, Pa./Northern Lebanon) hit a layup to put McDaniel in front for good. The hosts tallied 14 of the game's next 19 points to open up a double-digit lead with 13:09 to play.
A DJ Harper (Upper Marlboro, Md./Riverdale Baptist) steal-and-layup gave the Green Terror its largest lead of the half – a 32-20 edge entering the break.
A Cannan layup followed by a Ray steal-and-layup in the first 41 seconds of the second half keyed the 4-minute, 29-second stretch to open the period.
McWilliams hit three straight 3-pointers to cap the run.
Alex Minetti provided the only Emmanuel points during the run – a jumper with 16:25 showing, snapping a 10-minute, 8-second scoring drought.
McDaniel's lead swelled as large as 35 when James McGovern (Glenside, Pa./St. Joseph's Prep) hit two free throws to make it a 71-36 game with 4:20 to play.
Nick Perugino (Lewes, Del./Salesianum) added eight points, seven rebounds and five assists. McWilliams and Cannon added seven boards each as part of a 44-29 advantage on the glass.
The Green Terror returns to action at home against Franklin & Marshall on Saturday. Game time is 3 p.m.
