Box Score WESTMINSTER, Md. – Johns Hopkins held McDaniel without a point for the first 8:01 of the second quarter, building a 19-point lead en route to a 67-42 Centennial Conference (CC) women's basketball victory on Thursday.
Liv Storer (Wangaratta, Victoria, Australia/Galen Catholic) led the Green Terror (9-9, 7-6 CC) with 12 points while Anna Mondoro (Dumfries, Va./Homeschool) chipped in a career-best eight points.
Lillian Scott paced the Blue Jays (8-9, 7-6 CC) with 19 points while Rory Cole added 14 points and 11 rebounds.
Johns Hopkins built a 10-4 lead through the first 3:52 of the first quarter before seven straight McDaniel points gave the hosts their first – and only – lead on a Storer jumper with 1:04 to play.
A Madison McGrath jumper and Cole layup gave the Blue Jays a 14-11 edge at the end of the period and keyed a 20-0 run.
A Mondoro triple and Karli Zeps (Reisterstown, Md./Seton Keough) jumper at the buzzer closed the deficit to 32-16 at the break.
McDaniel got as close as 37-20 on a Zeps fast-break layup with 6:17 to play in the third quarter before 11 straight Blue Jay points stretched the lead to its largest at 28 with 2:58 showing.
Johns Hopkins never trailed by fewer than 23 the rest of the way.
The Green Terror returns to action at Bryn Mawr on Saturday. Game time is 1 p.m.
