HOBOKEN, N.J. – McDaniel dropped a pair of matches in a Centennial Conference (CC) trimatch at Stevens with Merchant Marine in wrestling action on Saturday.
Billy Emerson (Germantown, Md./Watkins Mill) led the Green Terror (3-8, 0-3 CC) with two wins at heavyweight, including a third-period pin against the seventh-ranked Ducks.
The Mariners (4-7, 2-2 CC) topped McDaniel 36-12 before Stevens (16-0, 2-0 CC) remained perfect on the season with a 43-9 win.
Nick Malinowski (Baltimore, Md./Boys' Latin School of Maryland) opened the Merchant Marine match with a forfeit win to stake the Green Terror to a 6-0 lead.
A Tyler Craig major decision at 133, however, started a run of eight straight wins for the Mariners. Nathan Henkle recorded a pin at 141 to give his team the lead for good.
Erik Beshada (157) and Kurtis Hahn (184) had technical falls during the stretch.
Emerson earned a forfeit win at heavyweight to cap the match.
In the match with Stevens, Rob Murray opened the day with a forfeit win at 125. Tryoy Stanich (133) and Dylan Van Sickell (141) followed with first-period falls to push the lead to 18-0.
Erik Meyer (Fallston, Md./Archbishop Curley) broke up the shutout with a 6-3 win at 157.
Colin Navickas (165) and Josh Smith (174) followed that up with pins of their own.
Emerson capped the day with a 6-minute, 21-second fall at heavyweight.
The Green Terror returns to action at home for a trimatch with Johns Hopkins and Washington and Lee on Saturday. Action begins at 12 p.m.
