Box Score GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Gettysburg closed the third quarter on a 10-2 run to reestablish a double-digit lead, defeating McDaniel 63-50 in Centennial Conference (CC) women's basketball win on Wednesday.
Karli Zeps (Reisterstown, Md./Seton Keough) led the Green Terror (7-8, 5-5 CC) with 13 points.
Emily Gibbson led the Bullets (11-4, 7-3 CC) with her 11th double-double of the season, recording 12 points and 12 rebounds.
Tied at 4-all, Emily Gibbons hit a 3-pointer with 6:25 on the clock, sparking a 13-6 burst that included three triples to open up a 17-10 lead with 2:18 remaining in the first quarter.
After a Halle Burgess (Ashton, Md./Good Counsel) 3-pointer to open the second quarter trimmed the margin to 19-15, the lead alternated between four and six points until a Kendra Meredith layup with 4:10 showing made it a 25-17 game.
Meredith put together a personal 9-0 run to close the half, extending to advantage to 30-17.
Trailing 33-19, Zeps hit a layup and Alyssa March (Fallston, Md./Fallston) scored five straight points to trim the deficit to single digits with 6:58 remaining in the third quarter.
Five straight points from Jasmine Smith (Baltimore, Md./Baltimore Polytechnic Institute) made it a 39-34 contest with 2:29 to play.
The Bullets, however, netted 10 of the final 12 points in the third quarter to stretch the lead back 13.
Still leading 51-40, Meredith hit a cutting layup with 8:06 to play to spark a 7-0 run over the next 2:30 that secured the victory.
March added 12 points for the Green Terror while Burgess and Smith finished with seven each.
Gettysburg shot 59.5 percent for the game while holding McDaniel to just 33.9 percent.
The Green Terror returns to action at home against Ursinus on Saturday. Game time is 3 p.m.
