WESTMINSTER, Md. – Haverford scored six straight points in the fourth quarter to break a tie game and defeat McDaniel 49-43 in Centennial Conference (CC) women's basketball action on Thursday.

Karli Zeps (Reisterstown, Md./Seton Keough) led the Green Terror (6-7, 4-4 CC) with 12 points, seven rebounds and three steals.

Sierra Berkel led the Fords (8-4, 6-2 CC) with 20 points and 15 rebounds, including 12 points in the second half.

Trailing 39-34, Halle Burgess (Ashton, Md./Good Counsel) hit two free throws and Melanie Yeomans (Adamstown, Md./South Hagerstown) canned one in the final 1:14 of the third quarter to close the deficit to two entering the final period.

An Alyssa March (Fallston, Md./Fallston) putback tied the game at 39-all with 8:34 to play.

Maddie Gallic hit a layup 64 seconds later before a Macy Goldbach layup and two Berkel free throws stretched the lead to six with 4:14 to play.

After Zeps and Berkel traded layup in the first 86 seconds of the game, a pair of Samantha Wetzel jumpers gave the Fords a four-point edge with 7:09 on the clock.

Gallic stretched the lead as large at 12-6 in the first quarter but a Burgess 3-pointer and March free thow cut the deficit to two at the end of the period.

Haverford stretched the lead back tow six twice early in the second quarter but six straight Green Terror points tied the game at 19-all midway through the stanza.

Yeomans just beat the first-half horn with a 15-foot jumper to make it a 27-24 game at the intermission.

The third-quarter lead fluctuated between one and five points for the Fords.

March finished with nine points and eight rebounds.

McDaniel returns to action at Muhlenberg on Saturday. Game time is 2 p.m.
