Box Score WESTMINSTER, Md. – Catholic won a close third set to complete a sweep of McDaniel in non-conference volleyball action on Tuesday.
Lexi Corral (Tucson, Ariz./Gaithersburg [Md.]) led the Green Terror (1-4) on attack with 12 kills and hit .435.
Tara Rempel recorded 11 kills against just one error to hit .476 to lead the Cardinals (3-2), who hit .333 as a team.
McDaniel opened up a 7-3 lead in the first set and still held a 15-11 advantage before a Kathryn Harrigan kill sparked a 4-0 run to even the set at 15-all.
Tied at 17-all, an error and kills from Brynn Cooley and Rempel gave the visitors a 20-17 en route to a 25-20 victory.
Tied at 6-all in the second set, Catholic reeled off eight of the next nine points to open up a 14-7 advantage en route to a 25-18 victory.
In a third set that featured five ties and three lead changes, the Cardinals built a lead as large as 23-20 to force a Green Terror timeout.
Out of the stoppage, Patricia Davie (Key Largo, Fla./Williamsburg Christian Academy) knocked down her 10th and final kill of the night and Genna Weger (Shrewsbury, Pa./Susquehannock) recorded an ace to close the deficit to one.
Alexis Duday (Charlottesville, Va./Albemarle) added a kill to even the set and force a Cardinal timeout.
Another Weger ace gave the hosts set point but back-to-back errors and a Cooley kill gave Catholic a 26-24 victory.
Maddie Moyer (Brookeville, Md./Sherwood) finished with 15 assists and three aces.
Taylor Bauman (Charlottesville, Va./Albemarle) steadied the defense with 15 digs while Weger added 13 and Duday had 10.
The Green Terror returns to action at home the Sea Gull Classic hosted by Salisbury on Friday. McDaniel takes on Salisbury at 4 p.m. and Elizabethtown at 6 p.m.
