Box Score 2 GETTYSBURG, Pa. – McDaniel opened the 2016 season with a split on the first day of the Battlefield Classic hosted by Gettysburg in volleyball action on Friday.
The Green Terror (1-1) dropped a 3-0 decision to Carnegie Mellon before topping Gallaudet by an identical 3-0 margin to close out pool play on the first day of the two-day tournament.
Lexi Corral (Tucson, Ariz./Gaithersburg [Md.]) led the way on the night with 15 total kills and three blocks.
In the win over the Bison (0-2), Corral was the only McDaniel player to reach double-digit kills in the 25-15, 25-18, 25-22 victory with 10 knockdowns. She also had three blocks, two digs and an ace.
Allie Lugar (Wilmington, Del./Dupont) added seven kills to the attack. Maddie Moyer (Brookeville, Md./Sherwood) contributed 16 assists to go with three aces and three kills and 12 digs.
Taylor Bauman (Charlottesville, Va./Albemarle) steadied the defense with 18 digs to go with five assists.
Genna Weger (Shrewsbury, Pa./Susquehannock) chipped in three aces and six digs.
Against the Tartans (2-0), Patricia Davie (Key Largo, Fla./Williamsburg Christian Academy) debuted with a team-best six kills. Corral and Caroline Savin (Shrewsbury, Pa./Susquehannock) added five kills each.
Weger led the defense with 15 digs while Moyer and Alexis Duday (Charlottesville, Va./Albemarle) had seven digs each.
The Green Terror concludes the Battlefield Classic against Messiah and Montclair State on Saturday. Action begins at 10 a.m.
