Box Score 2 ALLENTOWN, Pa. – Muhlenberg swept the Centennial Conference (CC) volleyball opener from McDaniel as part of trimatch on Saturday.
The Green Terror (5-8, 0-1 CC) followed up the 3-0 loss with a 3-0 loss to Kean in the second match of the day.
Taylor Bauman (Charlottesville, Va./Albemarle) led McDaniel with 48 digs over the two matches, including a three-set program-record 31 digs against the Cougars.
The Mules (7-3, 1-0 CC), led by 13 kills from Maggie Enestvedt took the opening set 25-22 before winning the second set, 25-13. Muhlenberg capped the sweep with a 25-20 victory.
The first set featured six ties and four lead changes before a pair of Enestvedt kills around one from Lexi Corral (Tucson, Ariz./Gaithersburg [Md.]) secured the set and propelled the hosts to the sweep.
Clinging to a 21-20 lead tin the final set, Kelly Tornetta put down a kill to spar a 4-0 run to the finish.
Allie Lugar (Wilmington, Del./Dupont) led the attack with eight kills while Bauman paced the defense with 17 digs.
Kean (9-2) won a first set that featured 10 ties and seven lead changes 28-26 before finishing the sweep with identical 25-19 set scores.
Trailing 26-25, an attack error and two Sara Ridgeway kills gave the Cougars a 1-0 lead in the match. Ridgeway finished the day with a team-best 11 kills.
Lugar once again led the way, registering 10 kills while Corral and Caroline Savin (Shrewsbury, Pa./Susquehannock) added seven knockdowns each.
Bauman turned in program-record for digs in a three-set match with 31.
The Green Terror returns to action at home against Susquehanna on Tuesday. Match time is 7:30 p.m.
