ALLENTOWN, Pa. – McDaniel scored in the first half before Muhlenberg tied the game late, forging a 1-all draw in the Centennial Conference (CC) men's soccer opener for both teams on Saturday.

Diego Vargas (McLean, Va./Cushing Academy) led the Green Terror (2-2-1, 0-0-1 CC) with his first collegiate goal.

Pete Luther led the Mules (2-3-1, 0-0-1 CC), scoring the equalizer in the 80th minute.

Vargas collected a deflection and put it in the back-left corner for a 1-0 lead at the 17:47 mark.

That lead held until Luther headed in a long ball from Jack Dusing.

Nick Over (Westminster, Md./Winters Mill) made five saves for McDaniel while Alex Tomko had two saves at the other end.

Muhlenberg finished with a 20-8 advantage in shots, including carrying play in both overtimes with a 5-1 edge in shots over the 20 extra minutes.

McDaniel returns to action at home against Goucher on Wednesday. Game time is 4 p.m.
