Box Score 2 SALISBURY, Md. – McDaniel notched a pair of 3-1 victories to conclude action at the Sea Gull Classic hosted by Salisbury in non-conference volleyball action on Saturday.
The Green Terror (4-5), who played a pair of five-setters on the first day on Friday, finished the weekend 3-1 after wins over Marywood and Virginia Wesleyan.
Alexis Duday (Charlottesville, Va./Albemarle) led the way on the final day with 20 total kills and 16 digs. For her performance on the weekend, she joined her teammate Lexi Corral (Tucson, Ariz./Gaithersburg [Md.]) on the all-tournament team.
McDaniel opened the day against the Pacers (0-9), winning the first two sets 25-7 and 25-8 before dropping a 25-20 third set. The Green Terror won the fourth set, 25-16.
Corral led the way with 14 kills against just one error in 21 swings to hit .619 in the match. She also added four aces, six digs and three blocks. Patricia Davie (Key Largo, Fla./Williamsburg Christian Academy) also reached double digits in kills with 10.
Genna Weger (Shrewsbury, Pa./Susquehannock) and Taylor Bauman (Charlottesville, Va./Albemarle) steadied the defense with 14 and 11 digs, respectively.
Maddie Moyer (Brookeville, Md./Sherwood) added 23 assists and four aces.
In the second match, the Marlins (4-5) edged out a 27-25 victory in the first set, taking the final three points. McDaniel countered with three straight wins, 25-11, 25-23 and 25-10.
In the decisive third set, Abigail Hernandez (Gaithersburg, Md./Richard Montgomery) finished the two-point win with one of her five aces in the match and eight on the day.
Duday led the attack with 15 kills while Allie Lugar (Glen Allen, Va./Glen Allen) chipped in 10. Moyer added 28 assists and 14 digs.
Weger led the defense with 24 digs while Bauman had 22. Duday just missed a double-double with nine digs.
Corral finished off the weekend with eight kills, three aces and seven total blocks.
The Green Terror returns to action at Stevenson on Tuesday. Match time is 7 p.m.
