Box Score WESTMINSTER, Md. – Wesley scored on its second shot of overtime to take a 2-1 men's soccer victory over McDaniel in season-opening action for both teams on Thursday.
Randall Hilleary (Issaquah, Wash./Skyline) scored the lone goal for the Green Terror (0-1), getting the equalizer in his collegiate debut.
Christopher McPoyle netted the game-winner for the Wolverines (1-0), finishing a Danny Garza ball from the left wing just 2:18 into the first extra session.
Avery Brice staked the visitors to a 1-0 lead in the 16th minute, finding the back of the net on a strike from 25 yards out.
Hilleary finished a Raul Escobar (Silver Spring, Md./Blake) corner kick in the 74th minute to draw McDaniel even.
The hosts carried play over the remainder of regulation, including being awarded a penalty kick on a handball in the 78th minute but Kyle Springsteen made one of his four saves to preserve the tie.
Nick Over (Westminster, Md./Winters Mill) made six saves for the Green Terror.
Wesley finished the game with a 15-12 edge in shots.
McDaniel returns to action at Gallaudet on Friday. Game time is 7 p.m.
