HOBOKEN, N.J. – McDaniel dropped its final two Centennial Conference (CC) dual matches to a pair of top-25 squads in wrestling action on Saturday.
The Green Terror (11-7, 4-4 CC) fell 29-9 to No. 22 NYU before dropping a 49-0 decision to No. 20 Stevens to close out the day.
Alvontae Drummond (Lincoln, Del./Milford) led McDaniel with a technical fall victory at 141.
The Violets (11-5, 5-2 CC) jumped out to a 9-0 lead in the match behind a 10-6 win by Wayne Yuan at 125 and 1-mintue, 48-second pin by Nathan Pike at 133.
Drummond made it a 9-5 score with his 16-0 win at 141 before NYU won five straight bouts to secure the win.
Raymond Jazikoff had the big win in the stretch with a 20-4 technical fall at 157.
Jake Pooton (Mt. Airy, Md./South Carroll) broke up the run with a 14-1 victory at 197 before Santoni Pelusi capped the Violet victory with a 2-1 win at heavyweight.
The Ducks (18-2, 6-0 CC) remained undefeated in conference action with the shutout win. Rob Murray opened the day with a 15-0 technical fall win at 125 before a Joey Borai forfeit at 133 gave the hosts an 11-0 lead.
Zach Wilhelm added a second-period fall at 149 before Colin Navickas notched a pin in the latter half of the third period at 165. A.J. Kowal (184) and Tyler Maher (285) added first-period falls.
McDaniel hosts the CC Championship on Saturday. Action begins at 10 a.m.
