Box Score

ALLENTOWN, Pa. – McDaniel put together a 13-4 run over the second half of the third quarter en route to a 79-62 victory over Gettysburg in the semifinals of 2016 Centennial Conference (CC) women's basketball tournament on Friday.

Karli Zeps (Reisterstown, Md./Seton Keough) netted a season-best 24 points to pace the Green Terror (21-5) into Saturday's championship game against top-seeded Muhlenberg, which defeated Dickinson 64-56 in the night's first semifinals. Lindsey Nichols (Wilmington, Del./St. Mark's) added a game-high 26 points to go with 10 steals – the most in a CC tournament game and most by a Green Terror player since 1991.

Jessica Porter led the Bullets (19-6) with 21 points while Emma Dorshimer added 16 points.

McDaniel jumped out to an 8-0 lead to force a Gettysburg timeout with 7:26 to play in the first quarter.

Zeps hit a layup to start the game before nabbing a steal and feeding Jasmine Smith (Baltimore, Md./Baltimore Polytechnic Institute) for a 4-0 lead.

Out of the stoppage, Dorshimer swished a 3-pointer from the top of the arc for the Bullets' first points with 7:14 showing.

Behind six points from Brittney Davis (Laurel, Md./St. Vincent Pallotti), the Green Terror built a 20-11 lead before Kim Ryan and Nichols traded triples in the final 16 seconds of the period.

Five points in the first 1:14 of the second period trimmed the deficit to 23-19 before a Melanie Yeomans' (Brunswick, Md./South Hagerstown) free throw pushed the lead back to five with 7:13 on the clock.

Nichols hit a driving layup on the next possession before Emily Gibbons canned a pair of buckets to make it a 26-23 game with 5:32 on the clock.

Trailing 33-27, Ryan drained a 3-poiner to spark a 7-0 run that gave the Bullets their first lead of the game with 1:39 showing.

Zeps and Porter traded baskets in the final 1:17 to give Gettysburg a 36-35 edge at the intermission.

Dorshimer extended the lead to three early in the third quarter.

The teams traded points over the rest of the quarter until two Zeps free throws with 2:22 remaining put McDaniel back in front, 43-42.

A Nichols steal-and-layup coupled with a free throw stretched the lead to four with 1:49 showing.

Back-to-back Zeps layups extended the lead to 52-44 before Dorshimer hit a jumper to close the margin to six at the end of the period.

Trailing 56-46, Dorshimer and Porter hit back-to-back 3-pointer to close the deficit to four with 6:34 on the clock.

A Zeps elbow jumper at the other end halted the momentum.

Nichols' fourth triple of the night pushed the lead back to 10, giving the Green Terror a 66-56 lead with 3:33 to play.

Gettysburg got no closer down the stretch.

Davis added 12 points and 11 assists to post McDaniel's first double-double with points and assists since 2011.
