McDaniel to battle for CC title

WESTMINSTER, Md. – McDaniel will travel to Allentown, Pa., for the 2016 Centennial Conference (CC) women's basketball championship tournament, to be held on Friday and Saturday at Memorial Hall on the campus of Muhlenberg.

The second-seeded Green Terror (20-5, 15-3 CC) faces third-seeded Gettysburg (19-5, 13-5 CC) in Friday second semifinal at 8 p.m. or 30 minutes upon the conclusion of the night's first semifinal.

That semifinal pits top-seeded Muhlenberg (22-2, 16-2 CC) against the winner of the first-round game between fourth-seeded Dickinson (15-9, 11-7 CC) and fifth-seeded Haverford (15-10, 10-8). That game begins at 6 p.m.

The championship game will held on Saturday at 4 p.m.

Admission for all games is $5 for adults and $3 for students. Youths 12 and under as well as students from participating institutions, who present their ID, are free.

The tournament's champion will earn the CC's automatic bid to the 2016 NCAA Division III tournament, slated to begin on Friday, Mar. 4. The NCAA field will be announced at 2:30 p.m. on Monday.

McDaniel is seeking its fifth CC championship and seventh berth in the NCAA tournament. The Green Terror claimed the conference crown and NCAA bid in 2002, 2004, 2005 and 2010. The squad also earned an at-large bid in 2007 as well as 2015.

Muhlenberg is in search of its ninth CC title while Gettysburg, Dickinson and Haverford each seek their second conference crown.

Lindsey Nichols (Wilmington, Del./St. Mark's) leads the Green Terror and CC in scoring (19.6 ppg) and has hit a team-best 69 3-pointers. She also has a team-high 64 steals to go with 37 assists.

Karli Zeps (Reisterstown, Md./Seton Keough) leads the team in rebounding (6.5 rpg) and ranks second on the team in scoring (11.4 ppg). She is also second on the team with 58 steals.

Brittney Davis (Laurel, Md./St. Vinent Pallotti) has a team-best 115 assists and has nabbed 37 steals. She is also third on the team in scoring (9.4 ppg).

Sarah Bach (Manchester, Md./Manchester Valley) is second on the team in rebounding (6.4 rpg).
