WESTMINSTER, Md. – McDaniel scored 10 straight points in the first half to open up a double-digit lead en route to a 62-52 win over Valley Forge in non-conference men's basketball action on Sunday.

Tim Stewart (Smyrna, Del./Smyrna) led the Green Terror (14-11) with 15 points and eight rebounds while Austin Cannon (Hampstead, Md./Manchester Valley) added 10 points, including the first six of the second half.

Connor Huth paced the Patriots (5-19) with 12 points off the bench.

After a back-and-forth start, Nick Perugino (Lewes, Del./Salesianum) canned a triple to give McDaniel a 10-8 lead that it wouldn't relinquish with 13:23 to play in the opening half.

Cameron Royster (Derwood, Md./Magruder) hit a layup to push the lead to four before Jerome Staley converted a three-point play to make it a one-point game.

A Perugino cutting layup with 11:41 to play sparked a 10-0 Green Terror run.

Back-to-back Josh McWilliams (Newtown, Pa./Council Rock North) 3-pointers capped the stretch 4:20 later.

McDaniel, however, did not hit another field goal for the rest of the first half and watched Valley Forge close to within 26-22 at the break.

Six straight Cannon points reestablished the 10-point edge just 3:17 into the second half.

A Stewart dunk and Perugino 3-pointer extended the lead as large as 43-28 with 12:01 to play but the Patriots reeled off 14 of the next 15 points to pull within 44-42 with 7:16 on the clock. Huth had a pair of triples during the stretch.

Clinging to a 47-45 lead, a Wes Brooks (North Wales, Pa./North Penn) triple sparked a 10-3 run that sealed the victory.

Brooks and McWilliams finished with nine points each.

McDaniel returns to action in the Centennial Conference tournament first round at Gettysburg on Wednesday. Game time will be announced on Tuesday.
