Box Score WESTMINSTER, Md. – Gettysburg jumped out to a 10-2 lead and never looked back en route to a 58-46 victory over McDaniel in Centennial Conference (CC) men's basketball action on Saturday.
Wes Brooks (North Wales, Pa./North Penn) led the Green Terror (13-11, 10-8 CC) with 17 points while Tim Stewart (Smyrna, Del./Smyrna) added 14 points and nine rebounds. With the loss, McDaniel will be the No. 5 seed in next week's conference tournament. The Green Terror will once again travel for a rematch with the Bullets (16-8, 11-6 CC) for a rematch on Wednesday after Dickinson topped Franklin & Marshall 88-86 in overtime. Wednesday's game time will be announced on Tuesday.
Tanner Kirkpatrick led Gettysburg with 13 points and eight rebounds while Cody Kiefer and Kevin Gladstone added 12 points each.
A Tanner Kirkpatrick jumper and Mateus Maccieri 3-pointer staked the Bullets to a 5-0 lead with 17:14 on the clock.
After Stewart and Alex Kaslander traded layups, a Gladstone free throw and Kiefer putback extended the lead to eight and forced a timeout with 14:40 showing.
A Stewart free throw closed the deficit to 14-9 four minutes later but six straight Gettysburg points made it a 20-9 game with 5:28 remaining.
Trailing 26-17 at the break, Brooks canned a 3-pointer on the hosts' first possession of the second half to trim the deficit to six.
The Bullets, however, countered with eight of the next 10 points to open up a 34-22 lead with 16:34 to play.
Stewart converted a three-point play to trim the deficit to 48-41 with 2:51 to play but McDaniel could get no closer.
The Green Terror returns to action at home against Valley Forge on Sunday. Game time is 3 p.m.
