Box Score HAVERFORD, Pa. – McDaniel put together a 10-0 run midway through the first half en route to a 71-52 victory over Haverford in Centennial Conference (CC) men's basketball action on Saturday.
Kevin Yrizarry (Owings Mills, Md./Owings Mills) led the Green Terror (12-10, 9-7 CC) with a career-best 16 points. Cameron Royster (Derwood, Md./Magruder) and Nick Perugino (Lewes, Del./Salesianum) added 12 and 10 points, respectively, off the bench.
Anthony Reyes led the Fords (4-18, 2-13 CC) with 14 points.
Baskets from Tim Stewart (Smyrna, Del./Smyrna) and Austin Cannon (Hampstead, Md./Manchester Valley) staked McDaniel to a 4-0 lead just 1:07 into the game and the visitors never trailed.
A Reyes 3-pointer closed the deficit to 10-9 with 14:51 on the clock but baskets from Josh McWilliams (Newtown, Pa./Council Rock North) pushed the lead back to five.
Clinging to a two-point lead, Perugino canned a triple with 10:50 showing to spark a 10-0 run over the next 3:33. Perugino had six of his 10 points during the stretch.
The lead swelled to 36-21 at the break behind a balanced first half in which five different players led the way with six points.
Haverford got no closer than 13 in the second half.
Four points from Yrizarry keyed an 8-0 burst that stretched the lead as large as 58-29 with 9:44 to play.
Stewart and Brooks finished with eight points each. Stewart will enter the final week of the regular season needing just 11 points to reach 1,000 for his career.
McDaniel returns to action at home against Valley Forge on Monday. Game time is 7:30 p.m.
