Box Score ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. – Elizabethtown held McDaniel to just eight second half points to open up a four-point game at halftime and turn it into a 52-32 non-conference women's basketball victory on Tuesday.
Alyssa March (Fallston, Md./Fallston) led the Green Terror (3-5) with eight points off the bench and added five rebounds.
Emily Martin paced the Blue Jays (5-1) with 22 points and 13 rebounds.
Back-to-back layups from Karli Zeps (Reisterstown, Md./Seton Keough) staked McDaniel to a 4-0 lead just 1:52 into the game.
A pair of Martin baskets around a Mikayla Ruth layup gave the hosts a 6-4 edge with 6:36 showing.
Trailing 13-11, Lawson hit a 3-pointer with 1:06 to play in the first period to give Elizabethtown the lead for good.
Lawson added a 1-for-2 showing from the line in the final three seconds to take a 15-13 edge into the second quarter.
Two Martin baskets stretched the lead to six just 1:17 into the next period before a Jasmine Smith (Baltimore, Md./Baltimore Polytechnic Institute) three-point play and Zeps layup trimmed the margin to 19-18.
Clinging to a 21-20 edge, Lawson hit a layup with 4:41 to play to spark a 7-0 run. Nikki Thompson added the next five points.
Two Jamese Word (Belmont, Mass./Lexington Christian Aacademy) free throws and a Smith steal-and-layup closed the deficit to 28-24 at the break.
The Blue Jays, however, outscored McDaniel 9-2 in the third quarter to build a double-digit advantage.
The lead swelled to 20 before two March free throws with 3:56 to play snapped a 9-minute, 11-second scoring drought. March added a layup 1:12 later but Elizabethtown scored six of the game's final eight points for the 20-point victory.
Zeps finished with six points and six rebounds while Smith added seven points and three steals.
The Green Terror returns to action at home against Franklin & Marshall on Saturday. Game time is 1 p.m.
