Box Score ARLINGTON, Va. – Marymount built a 12-point lead in the first half before holding on for a 52-46 victory over McDaniel in non-conference men's basketball action on Monday.
Josh McWilliams (Newtown, Pa./Council Rock North) led the Green Terror (4-5) with 12 points.
Michael Anderson and Brandon Rogers led a balanced attack for the Saints (5-4) with nine points each.
Trailing 9-8, an Ibrahim Kamara tip-in and Pat Dumais second-chance layup 33 seconds apart gave the hosts a 12-9 lead, keying a 9-1 burst.
A James McGovern (Glenside, Pa./St. Joseph's Prep) free throw and Nick Perugino (Lewes, Del./Salesianum) 3-pointer closed the deficit to 17-14.
After more than four minutes without scoring, Anderson hit a layup with 7:33 on the clock and sparked a 10-1 run over the next 5 minutes, 21 seconds to take a 27-15 lead en route to a 28-20 advantage at the break.
Trailing 32-22, McDaniel tallied nine of the next 11 points to close to within three on an Isaac Ray (Fredericksburg, Pa./Mount Lebanon) 3-pointer with 16:36 to play.
A Kamara dunk momentarily halted the run but McWilliams responded with a 3-pointer to make it a 36-34 game.
Marymount, however, countered with the game's next seven points to stretch the lead back to nine with 9:13 showing.
A Perugino 3-pointer trimmed the deficit to 48-44 with 2:10 remaining but that's as close as the Green Terror could get.
DJ Harper (Upper Marlboro, Md./Riverdale Baptist) added eight points for McDaniel while McGovern, Ray, Perugino and Kevin Yrizarry (Owings Mills, Md./Owings Mills) added six points each. Ray added six rebounds.
The Green Terror returns to action at CCNY on Friday, Dec. 30. Game time is 4 p.m.
