Jasmine Smith (Baltimore, Md./Baltimore Polytechnic Institute) led the Green Terror (2-4, 1-2 CC) as the only player to reach double figures on either side with 10 points.
Ali Grundy tallied nine points for the Shorewomen (1-4, 0-2 CC), including hitting three 3-pointers to eclipse 100 treys for her career.
Smith and Emily Thiemann traded baskets in the first two minutes of the game before Washington did not hit another field goal until 6:11 remained in the second quarter – its only other field goal of the first half.
Behind four points from Sarah Bach (Manchester, Md./Manchester Valley), McDaniel built an 11-2 lead through the first period before the Shorewomen cut the deficit to 11-6.
Jumpers from Liv Storer (Wangaratta, Victoria, Australia/Galen Catholic) and Halle Burgess (Ashton, Md./Good Counsel) stretched the lead back to nine en route to a 17-10 lead at the intermission.
The Green Terror scored 11 of the first 13 points of the second half to build a 28-12 lead with 2:59 to play in the third quarter.
A Grundy 3-pointer and Kat Moore layup on the break trimmed the deficit to 11 just 1:12 later.
An Alyssa March (Fallston, Md./Fallston) layup stretched the lead to 34-19 with 6:24 to play before three 3-pointers, including two from Grundy, keyed a 14-3 run that trimmed the margin to 37-33 with 2:34 to play.
McDaniel, however, went 4-for-6 from the stripe in the final 1:27 and held Washington without another point.
March finished with nine points while Burgess added eight.
McDaniel returns to action at Ursinus on Saturday. Game time is 1 p.m.
