INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – McDaniel learned on Monday afternoon that its season will continue with an at-large bid into the NCAA Division III women's soccer field.
The Green Terror (16-2-1) fell in the Centennial Conference (CC) championship game to Johns Hopkins 3-1 on Sunday but earned one of 20 Pool C bids into the field of 64.
McDaniel will host a regional for the opening two rounds of the tournament. The Green Terror will take on Farmingdale State in the first game on Saturday at 11 a.m. Scranton will take on Connecticut College in the second game at approximately 1:30 p.m. The winners will meet in the second round on Sunday at 1 p.m.
The Rams (11-8-3) defeated Mount Saint Mary in the Skyline championship game 2-0 on Saturday.
The Royals (17-1-1) defeated Moravian in the Landmark championship game 2-0 on Saturday.
The Camels (10-5-1) lost in the NESCAC quarterfinals 6-1 to Amherst but earned an at-large bid into the tournament.
The Green Terror is making its second NCAA tournament berth after also earning an at-large bid in 2015.
Junior Katie Kirschennman (Damascus, Md./Damascus) leads the team with 10 goals and 21 points. Nicole Hill (Bowie, Md./Bowie) has six goals and a team-best 10 assists while Christina Wroblewski (Glen Mills, Pa./Cardinal O'Hara) has also added six goals.
Sarah McDonald (Yardley, Pa./Pennsbury) is 14-2-1 in goal, posting a 0.60 goals-against average and .863 save percentage. The defense has shut out its opposition in 13 of the 19 games this season.
