INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The NCAA announced sectional hosts on Monday morning and McDaniel learned that its postseason run will continue in Waltham, Mass., on the campus of Brandeis in the NCAA Division III women's soccer tournament.
The Green Terror (18-2-1) advanced to the third round for the first time in program history with a pair of wins in its regional last weekend. McDaniel defeated Farmingdale State 4-1 on Saturday before topping Connecticut College 3-1 in the second round on Sunday.
The 15th-ranked Green Terror will take on the host Judges (14-3-4) in the first third-round game on Saturday, beginning at 11 a.m. No. 1 William Smith and No. 13 Amherst will meet in the sectional's other third-round contest, slated to begin at 1:30 p.m.
The third-round winners will meet in Sunday's quarterfinal game with a bid to the national semifinals in Salem, Va., on the line. Game time will be 1 p.m. on Sunday.
Junior Katie Kirschennman (Damascus, Md./Damascus) leads the team with 11 goals and 25 points. Nicole Hill (Bowie, Md./Bowie) has six goals and a team-best 11 assists while Christina Wroblewski (Glen Mills, Pa./Cardinal O'Hara) and Kirsten Gibson (Lancaster, Pa./Penn Manor) have also added six goals each.
Sarah McDonald (Yardley, Pa./Pennsbury) is 16-2-1 in goal, posting a 0.65 goals-against average and .848 save percentage. The defense has shut out its opposition in 13 of the 21 games this season.
