Box Score CARLISLE, Pa. – McDaniel prevailed in a back-and-forth first set en route to a 3-0 win over Dickinson in Centennial Conference (CC) volleyball action on Wednesday.
Allie Lugar (Wilmington, Del./Dupont) led the Green Terror (11-9, 3-1 CC) to its sixth straight win with a match-high 12 kills and hit .478 on the night.
Lauren Ahern and Norma Jean Park paced the Red Devils (8-9, 1-3 CC) with seven kills each.
In a first set that featured 11 ties and seven lead changes, four straight Dickinson attack errors gave McDaniel a 19-16 lead before a pair of Lugar kills keyed a 6-2 finish to the set for a 25-19 victory.
A trio of Taylor Bauman (Charlottesville, Va./Albemarle) aces keyed a 7-0 run with the Green Terror trailing 6-5 in the second set. McDaniel went on to take a 2-0 lead in the match with a 25-13 win.
Trailing 5-1 early in the third set, the Green Terror reeled off eight of the next 12 points to draw the set even at 9-all.
Trailing 12-10, a Patricia Davie (Key Largo, Fla./Williamsburg Christian Academy) kill sparked a 7-0 run to open up an 18-12 lead en route to a 25-19 victory to complete the sweep.
Genna Weger (Shrewsbury, Pa./Susquehannock) led the defense with 11 digs while Lugar added seven. Lexi Corral (Tucson, Ariz./Gaithersburg [Md.]) and Caroline Savin (Shrewsbury, Pa./Susquehannock) added six kills each. Maddie Moyer (Brookeville, Md./Sherwood) chipped in 18 assists.
McDaniel returns to action at Swarthmore on Saturday. Match time is 1 p.m.
