Box Score 2 WESTMINSTER, Md. – McDaniel recorded a pair of sweeps, including defeating Centennial Conference (CC)-foe Ursinus, in volleyball action on Saturday.
The Green Terror (10-9, 2-1 CC) ran its winning streak to five straight matches with 3-0 wins over the Bears and Randolph.
Patricia Davie (Key Largo, Fla./Williamsburg Christian Academy) led McDaniel with 17 kills on the day, including 10 against Ursinus.
Allison Raff led the Bears (8-7, 1-4 CC) with eight kills.
After a back-and-forth start to the first match, the Green Terror put together a 6-2 run to turn a 4-all deadlock into a 10-6 lead.
Six straight service points from Abigail Hernandez (Gaithersburg, Md./Richard Montgomery) later in the set extended the lead to 22-11 en route to a 25-13 victory.
The Green Terror rallied from an early 4-0 deficit in the second set. Alexis Duday (Charlottesville, Va./Albemarle) had back-to-back kills to make it a 20-12 lead en route to a 25-17 victory.
McDaniel raced out to a 7-1 lead in the third set before ultimately completing the sweep, 25-12.
Duday added eight kills in the match while Maddie Moyer (Brookeville, Md./Sherwood) contributed 13 assists. Genna Weger (Shrewsbury, Pa./Susquehannock) steadied the defense with 16 digs.
Against the Wildcats (2-14), the first set was back-and-forth before kills from Allie Lugar (Wilmington, Del./Dupont) and Davie gave McDaniel a 10-8 edge in the opening set.
Duday and Lexi Corral (Tucson, Ariz./Gaithersburg [Md.]) notched back-to-back kills to make it a 16-11 score and force a timeout. Out of the break, Hernandez served four of her seven aces to key an 11-0 finish.
Clinging to a 17-13 lead in the second set, a Weger ace keyed a 5-1 run that extended the lead to 22-14 en route to a 25-16 victory.
Two aces each from Moyer and Lugar keyed a 10-1 start to the third set that finished 25-15.
McDaniel returns to action at Dickinson on Wednesday. Match time is 7 p.m.
