ALLENTOWN, Pa. – McDaniel got two pins early to help defeat Washington and Lee and earn a split in Centennial Conference (CC) wrestling action on Saturday.
The Green Terror (11-4, 4-1 CC) dropped a 29-9 to Ursinus in the first match of the day before earning the split with a 48-9 victory over Washington and Lee.
Against the Bears (10-3, 4-0 CC), Christopher Tan recorded a 2-mnute, 2-second pin at 125 and Keven Hoogheem added a 6-4 victory at 133 to stake Ursinus to a 9-0 lead in the match.
Alvontae Drummond (Lincoln, Del./Milford) got a takedown with three seconds remaining in the first sudden-victory period to earn a 7-5 win at 141 and make it a 9-3 match.
A Derek Arnold technical fall midway through thes second period stretched the lead to 14-3 before Alexander Kramer added a fall in 6:46.
Wins by Robert Endy (4-2 at 165) and Corey Markovitch (5-2 at 174) stretched the lead to 26-3 before a Nick Cross (Centreville, Md./Queen Anne's County) notched a 6-3 win at 184.
Michael Newman won 13-7 at 197 before Taylor Avino (Fair Haven, N.J./Rumson-Fair Haven) took a 9-6 victory at heavyweight to round out the match.
Against the Generals (6-11, 0-6 CC), Mike O'Boyle (North Reading, Mass./North Reading) notched a 2-minute, 9-second pin to stake McDaniel to a 6-0 lead.
Ryan O'Boyle (North Reading, Mass./Central Catholic) doubled the advantage. Finding himself in a big hole at 133, O'Boyle got a pin with 31 seconds remaining to make it a 12-0 match.
Alex Pollera earned an injury default victory at 141 to cut the deficit to 12-6 but Trey Mitchell (Lewes, Del./Caesar Rodney), Erik Meyer (Fallston, Md./Archbishop Curley), Luke Yox (Westminster, Md./Liberty) and Ronnie Wuest (Smyrna, Del./Smyrna) all earned forfeits to push the lead to 36-6.
Ron Tassoni notched a 10-4 victory at 184 for Washington and Lee before Jake Pooton (Mount Airy, Md./South Carroll) capped the day with forfeit wins.
McDaniel returns to action at Gettysburg on Wednesday. Match time is 7 p.m.
