WESTMINSTER, Md. – McDaniel dropped just four matches en route to a pair of Centennial Conference (CC) wrestling victories on Saturday.
Ryan O'Boyle (North Reading, Mass./Central Catholic) went 2-0 with a pair of first-period pins to lead the Green Terror (10-3, 3-0 CC) to a 47-3 win over Muhlenberg and 29-14 victory over Merchant Marine.
In the first match against the Mules (3-6, 1-2 CC) After Nathaniel Frantz (Swarthmore, Pa./Strath Haven) took a forfeit at 125, Ryan O'Boyle (North Reading, Mass./Central Catholic) added a 1-minute, 52-second pin for a 12-0 lead.
Ben Peck gave Muhlenberg its only points of the match, earning a 13-9 victory at 141.
Trey Mitchell (Lewes, Del./Caesar Rodney) finished a pin midway through the second period.
Wade Bishop (Greensboro, Md./North Caroline) and Ronnie Wuest (Smyrna, Del./Smyrna) notched wins of 8-2 and 13-6, respectively, around an Erik Meyer (Fallston, Md./Archbishop Curley) 67-second fall in his return to the lineup to secure the match at 30-3.
Nick Cross (Centreville, Md./Queen Anne's County), who just ran out of time to complete a technical fall in the first period, finished off a 16-1 victory 26 seconds into the second period.
Jake Pooton (Mt. Airy, Md./South Carroll) and Taylor Avino (Fair Haven, N.J./Rumson-Fair Haven) wrapped up the match with a pair of pins. Pooton won 197 in 4:13 while Avino notched his fall in 2:46 at heavyweight.
Michael Mui opened the match against the Mariners (6-5, 1-1 CC) with a third-quarter reversal that turned in a 5-miunte, 53-second pin for a 6-0 lead.
O'Boyle needed just 31 seconds of the 133 bout to even the score with a fall of his own.
Marcos Mercado (Northampton, Mass./Hyde School Woodstock) escaped a late takedown to edge Daniel May for an 11-10 win at 141.
Mitchell, from the down position to start the period, reversed and took Nathan Twito right to his back and recorded a pin almost immediately to stake the Green Terror to a 15-6 lead.
Erik Beshada drew the visitors within five with a 13-4 win at 157.
A Meyer escape 11 seconds into the second period accounted for the only point of a victory at 165 before Wuest extended the lead to 21-10 with a 9-3 win at 174.
Cross secured McDaniel first win over Merchant Marine since 2006 with a technical fall midway through the second period, 18-1.
Ricky Fisher took a 12-3 win at 197 before Avino extended his personal winning streak to nine straight matches with a 9-4 victory.
The Green Terror returns to action at home in a quad match with Waynesburg, Southern Virginia and Ferrum on Saturday. Action begins at 11 a.m.
