Box Score WESTMINSTER, Md. – McDaniel held Haverford without a point for an 11-minute, 28-second stretch in the first half to build a double-digit lead en route to a 58-47 Centennial Conference (CC) men's basketball win on Thursday.
Kevin Yrizarry (Owings Mills, Md./Owings Mills) led the Green Terror (6-7, 3-4 CC) with his first collegiate double-double, matching his career high with 10 points to go with a career-best 14 rebounds.
Anthony Reyes paced the Fords (2-11, 0-6 CC) with 17 points.
Tim Stewart (Smyrna, Del./Smyrna) scored turnaround jumpers on the first two McDaniel possessions and the hosts never trailed.
An Austin Cannon (Hampstead, Md./Manchester Valley) steal-and-layup and Stewart jumper stretched the lead to 8-0 before Josh Fried got Haverford on the board 2:38 into the game.
A Nick Perugino (Lewes, Del./Salesianum) 3-pointer extended the lead to 11-4 before Kahlil Garnes responded with a pull-up trey to make it an 11-7 game with 14:26 on the clock.
That was the last Ford points until a Reyes triple with 2:58 showing.
In the meantime, four different Green Terror players helped extend the advantage to 21-7.
Haverford closed to within 25-16 before a Yrizarry putback jumper at the buzzer made it an 11-point game at the intermission.
A Kyle Goldfarb layup trimmed the margin to 29-22 with 14:07 to play but Cameron Royster (Derwood, Md./Magruder) responded with a layup of his own to spark a 9-2 burst that stretched the lead back to 14 with 9:43 remaining.
A pair of Royster layups and a Yrizarry second-chance bucket pushed the score to 54-38 with 2:28 to play en route to the 11-point victory.
Royster led the way in the scoring column with 14 points off the bench while Stewart added 10 to snap the Green Terror's four-game skid.
McDaniel returns to action at Swarthmore on Saturday. Game time is 3 p.m.
