Box Score 2 GETTYSBURG, Pa. – McDaniel rallied for a three-set win over Penn State-Altoona after dropping a four-set match to Messiah in the final day of the Battlefield Classic hosted by Gettysburg in volleyball action on Saturday.
Lexi Corral (Gaithersburg, Md./Gaithersburg) led the Green Terror (3-1) on the day, hitting .552 with 18 total kills. She notched 10 kills against just two errors in 14 attempts against Messiah before knocking down eight of her 15 swings against Altoona.
McDaniel took the first set against the Falcons (4-0) by a slim 25-22 margin before Messiah took the next two sets 25-20 and 25-17, respectively. The Falcons ultimately prevailed in a back-and-forth fourth set, 31-29.
Kloe Martin (Littleton, Colo./Heritage) led the attack with 16 kills while Teryn Rath (Grass Valley, Calif./Bear River) added 11 kills.
Taylor Bauman (Charlottesville, Va./Albemarle) reset her career best with 21 digs.
The Green Terror knocked off the Lions (1-3) in straight sets, taking the opening set 25-19 before completing the sweep, 25-23 and 25-13.
Martin and Corral led the way with eight kills each while Caroline Savin (Shrewsbury, Pa./Susquehannock) added seven kills.
Colette Kellen (Olney, Md./Covenant Life) chipped in 21 assists to go with seven aces and seven digs.
Bauman steadied the defense with 16 digs while Sarah Donnelly (Wilmington, Del./Archmere Academy) added 14.
Madeline Rose (Soddy Daisy, Tenn./Baylor School) added six total blocks.
For her play over the weekend, Martin was named to the all-tournament team.
McDaniel returns to action at Catholic on Wednesday. Match time is 7 p.m.
