Box Score WESTMINSTER, Md. – McDaniel and Penn State-Harrisburg scored one goal apiece in each half of regulation to play to a 2-all draw in non-conference men's soccer action on Tuesday.
JP O'Connor (Forest Hill, Md./Archbishop Curley) scored in the first half for the Green Terror (2-3-2), converting a penalty kick to draw the hosts even in the 34th minute.
Victor Weaver had the assist on both goals for the Lions (2-2-2), who finished the game with a 14-7 advantage in shots.
Weaver played a ball into the box that Seth Reynolds bounced off the keeper and into the net for a 1-0 lead just 8:52 into the game.
McDaniel was awarded a PK and O'Connor converted at the 33:29 mark to knot the game at 1-all.
Off a ball that was played off the endline by a Harrisburg defender, Carlos Valdez-Martinez (Silver Spring, Md./Blake) controlled the ball and rocketed it home from the corner of the box for a 2-1 lead in the 80th minute.
Weaver played a ball into the box that Matthew Vaz was able to turn and blast into the lower-left corner of the net with just 3:08 remaining in regulation.
The Lions finished with a 6-3 advantage in shots over the two extra 10-minute sessions but McDaniel had the best scoring opportunities in each period.
Bertrand Chepngang (Silver Spring, Md./Wheaton) drew the keeper out late in the first OT before dribbling to the center of the box but – after spinning off his defender – fired wide of the net.
He then had a look from close range with the keeper out of position in the second overtime but again pushed the ball just wide of the net.
Nick Over (Westminster, Md./Winters Mill) finished with four saves.
McDaniel returns to action at Haverford on Saturday. Game time is 3:30 p.m.
