Valdez-Martinez notches first goal

WESTMINSTER, Md. – Muhlenberg scored twice in the second half to top McDaniel 3-1 in Centennial Conference (CC) men's soccer action on Saturday.

Carlos Valdez-Martinez (Silver Spring, Md./Blake) scored the lone goal for the Green Terror (2-3-1, 0-1 CC), registering his first collegiate points.

Three different players scored for the Mules (2-3-1, 1-0 CC), including a goal from Noah Fulcomer that tied the score in the final minute of the first half.

Jeff Ramley put a ball just outside the diving reach of the keeper to break the deadlock at the 64:20 mark.

In a game that featured 24 fouls and six cards, a red card in the 80th minute gave Jack Dusing a penalty kick opportunity, which he converted for the final margin.

Valdez-Martinez finished off an Andrew Hofmeister (Baltimore, Md./McDonogh) pass to stake McDaniel to a 1-0 lead at the 38:57 mark.

Fulcomer bounced a ball over a drawn out keeper 5:07 later to even the game at the break.

Nick Over (Westminster, Md./Winters Mill) made six saves for the Green Terror while Jordan Schreer had five stops for the Mules.

Muhlenberg finished with a 13-7 advantage in shots while McDaniel had an 8-3 advantage in corner kicks.

The Green Terror returns to action at home against Penn State-Harrsiburg on Tuesday. Game time is 4 p.m.
