McDaniel to host CC playoffs

WESTMINSTER, Md. – McDaniel will host the 2015 Centennial Conference (CC) women's basketball championship tournament, to be held on Friday and Saturday at The Gill Center.

The top-seeded Green Terror (23-2, 16-2 CC) will host the winner of Tuesday's first-round game between Haverford (15-10, 13-5 CC) and Gettysburg (16-8, 10-8 CC) in Friday's first semifinal at 6 p.m. Second-seeded Muhlenberg (18-7, 15-3 CC) will square off against third-seeded Johns Hopkins (16-8, 13-5 CC) in the night's other semifinal, slated to begin at 8 p.m. or 30 minutes upon the conclusion of the night's first semifinal.

The championship game will be held on Saturday at 4 p.m.

Admission for all games is $5 for adults and $3 for students. Youths 12 and under as well as students from participating institutions, who present their ID, are free.

The tournament's champion will earn the CC's automatic bid to the 2015 NCAA Division III tournament, slated to begin on Friday, Mar. 6. The NCAA field will be announced at 2:30 p.m. on Monday.

McDaniel is seeking its fifth CC championship and sixth berth in the NCAA tournament. The Green Terror claimed the conference crown and NCAA bid in 2002, 2004, 2005 and 2010. The squad also earned an at-large bid in 2007.

Muhlenberg is in search of its eighth CC title while Johns Hopkins seeks its fifth. Gettysburg and Haverford each seek their second conference crown.

Lindsey Nichols (Wilmington, Del./St. Mark's) leads the Green Terror in scoring (18.7 ppg) and has hit a team-best 58 3-pointers. She also has a team-high 54 steals to go with 38 assists.

Steph Perez (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin East) is second on the team in scoring (11.1 ppg) and has hit 56 3-pointer this season. She is shooting .411 from the floor, including hitting .418 from long range.

Alyssa March (Fallston, Md./Fallston) leads the team in rebounding (7.2 rpg) and is third in scoring (9.0 ppg).

Brittney Davis (Laurel, Md./St. Vinent Pallotti) has a team-best 127 assists and has nabbed 43 steals.
