Box Score GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Gettysburg built an 11-point halftime lead en route to a 60-52 Centennial Conference (CC) win over McDaniel on Saturday.
Tim Stewart (Smyrna, Del./Smyrna) tallied 11 points – all in the second half – to lead the Green Terror (14-11, 9-9 CC), who fall to the No. 5 seed with the loss and will make the return trip to Gettysburg on Wednesday for the CC first-round game. Game time will be determined on Monday. Wes Brooks (North Wales, Pa./North Penn) added eight points.
Kevin Gladstone led the Bullets (14-11, 10-8 CC) with 17 points while Tanner Kirkpatrick added 11.
After a Cameron Royster (Derwood, Md./Magruder) layup and five straight points from Nick Perugino (Lewes, Del./Salesianum) erased a seven-point deficit and evened the game at 14-all, a Gladstone three-point play put Gettysburg back on top and sparked a 15-4 run.
Brooks responded to a Kirkpatrick triple with his own to cut the deficit to single digits but the lead swelled back to 12 en route to a 35-24 halftime advantage.
Stewart, who played just three minutes in the first half, scored the first four points of the second half to cut the margin to 35-28 before Sean Gordon hit a pair of free throws with 18:10 on the clock to spark a 9-1 burst that pushed the lead to 15.
The lead grew as large as 19 at 51-32 on a Gordon triple with 10:22 to play before Nic Martin (Hagerstown, Md./St. Maria Goretti) sliced through the lane with 9:58 on the clock and started a 12-2 rally.
Five different Green Terror players contributed during the run that closed the deficit to 53-44 but the Bullets tallied seven of the game's next eight points to seal the win.
