COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – Erik Meyer (Fallston, Md./Archbishop Curley) finished fourth at 157 to lead McDaniel at the Ursinus Fall Brawl in wrestling action on Saturday.
Meyer won his first match over Camden County College's Nate Carbanaro by technical fall before downing Tommy Grifa (Johns Hopkins), 3-2. Zach Elvin notched a 15-2 win to relegate Meyer to the consolation bracket, where he defeated Sakou Harris (Delaware Valley) 5-1 to advance to the third-place match. David Brennan (F&M) recorded a 10-6 decision to finish third.
Wade Bishop (Greensboro, Md./North Caroline) also recorded three wins at 157. He opened his day with a 16-7 and 10-5 win before falling to the consolation bracket by first-period fall to eventual champion Derek Arnold (Ursinus). In the consolation bracket, Bishop notched a 12-6 win before his day ended to Harris, 6-4.
Mike O'Boyle (North Reading, Mass./North Reading) added a three-win day at 133. After dropping his first match 10-5, O'Boyle notched a pair of first-period pins and a 12-8 win over Patrick Sockler (Muhlenberg) before falling 6-0 to top-seeded Connor Kirkegard (Delaware Valley) one bout shy of the third-place match.
Jake Pooton (Mt. Airy, Md./South Carroll) recorded a four-win day for the Green Terror at 197. After falling 5-3 in the opening round, he recorded pins in 4:26 and 3:12 before notching a pair of decisions, 18-4 and 4-2. His day ended against Brian Donovan (Western New England) 6-3 one bout shy of the third-place match.
Ryan O'Boyle (North Reading, Mass./Central Catholic) went 2-2 at 141, opening with a pin in 3 minutes, 31 seconds over Habeeb Onitiri (Ursinus). Austin Riggs (Navy Prep) edged O'Boyle 7-6 before O'Boyle opened his consolation bracket run with a 1-minute, 7-second fall. Logan Smith (Lycoming) then edged O'Boyle, 10-9.
Four other McDaniel wrestlers notched a single win.
Jacob Rendelman (Owings Mills, Md./Owings Mills) notched a 1-minute, 54-second pin at 133. Mickolas Zahora (Ashburn, Va./Briar Woods) also recorded a fall, winning in 1:27 at 141.
Clint Wright (Glenville, Pa./South Western) added an 8-3 win at 149 while Marvin McKinney (Moorestown, N.J./Moorestown) won 9-8 at 174.
The Green Terror returns to action at home in the Green Terror Duals on Saturday. Action begins at 11 a.m.
