Box Score FREDERICK, Md. – McDaniel used big runs midway through each set to take a 3-0 win at Hood in non-conference volleyball action on Friday.
Taylor Bauman (Charlottesville, Va./Albemarle) steadied the defense for the Green Terror (11-5) with 14 digs while Kloe Martin (Littleton, Colo./Heritage) added her second straight double-double with 13 kills and 12 digs.
Elana Young led the Blazers (11-8) with nine kills.
Knotted at 6-all on a Payton Belella ace in the first set, Lexi Corral (Tuscon, Ariz./Gaithersburg [Md.]) and Kari Betson traded kills before Teryn Rath (Grass Valley, Calif./Bear River) put down her first kill of the night to spark a 5-1 burst.
Another Corral kill capped a 4-0 run later in the set that gave McDaniel an 18-10 lead en route to a 25-15 victory.
Tied at 6-all in the second set, an attacking error and back-to-back Bauman aces opened up a 9-6 edge.
A Caroline Savin (Shrewsbury, Pa./Susquehannock) kill opened up an 18-10 advantage before the Blazers reeled off four straight points to close to within 18-14.
McDaniel tallied seven of the final nine points to a take a 2-0 lead by a 25-16 margin.
With the third set tied at 3-all, two errors, a Martin kill and Madeline Rose (Soddy Daisy, Tenn./Baylor School) ace made it a 7-3 score before another error stretched the lead to five.
The lead swelled to 17-6 en route to another 25-16 victory.
Rose and Savin added six kills each for McDaniel.
The Green Terror returns to action at home against Ursinus on Monday. Match time is 7 p.m.
