Box Score WESTMINSTER, Md. – Wilkes scored twice in the second half to top McDaniel 2-1 in non-conference men's soccer action on Tuesday.
Kerry Shutt (Lewisburg, Pa./Lewisburg Area) scored the lone goal for the Green Terror (2-7-2), knocking home his own shot-and-save in the 45th minute.
Eddie Metzger scored both goals for the Colonels (3-8) to overcome the 1-0 halftime deficit.
After 44 minutes of two combined shots, Shutt got a breakaway. The Wilkes keeper came out to meet a shot from the top of the box that bounced off him and towards the goal. Shutt chased the ball and knocked it home for a 1-0 lead.
Just 2:39 on the other side of halftime, Metzger blasted a ball from 40 yards out that was misplayed in the box and found the back of the net to knot the game at 1-all.
Off a restart in the 56th minute, Tyler Kukosky played a long ball into the middle of the box that Metzger collected before turning and firing into the back of the net for the game-winner.
Brandon Rozanski (Severn, Md./Old Mill) had a chance for an equalizer in the 76th minute but his header bounced off the inside of the post and back to the keeper to keep it a 2-1 game.
The Green Terror finished with a 12-7 edge in shots and 5-0 advantage in corner kicks.
Tim Gallagher made six saves for the Colonels.
McDaniel returns to action at No. 1 Franklin & Marshall on Saturday. Game time is 3 p.m.
