Box Score GETTYSBURG, Pa. – McDaniel edged Gettysburg 27-25 in the first set en route to a 3-0 Centennial Conference (CC) volleyball win on Wednesday.
Madeline Rose (Soddy Daisy, Tenn./Baylor School) led the Green Terror (15-6, 5-2 CC) with 14 kills and four total blocks.
Laura Bergin and Courtney Morrow paced the Bullets (12-11, 3-4 CC) with eight kills each.
Trailing 24-21 in the first set, Rose knocked down back-to-back kills to force a Bullet timeout. Out of the break, Kloe Martin (Littleton, Colo./Heritage) added a kill to even the set.
After a service error, Rose knocked down another kill then served the final two points, including an ace for the 1-0 match lead.
The Green Terror jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the second set before the Bullets countered with nine of the next 12 points for a 9-6 lead.
A Teryn Rath (Grass Valley, Calif./Bear River) kill and a pair of blocks evened the set.
Tied at 17-all, kills by Martin and Rath put McDaniel back in front en route to a 25-18 win.
Trailing 3-0 in the third set, a pair of Maddie Moyer (Brookeville, Md./Sherwood) aces keyed a 9-2 counter that gave the visitors a 9-5 advantage en route to completing the sweep, 25-16.
Martin added 11 kills and 10 digs while Taylor Bauman (Charlottesville, Va./Albemarle) led the defense with 16 digs.
Moyer finished with four aces and 15 assists while Colette Kellen (Olney, Md./Covenant Life) added 24 assists to pull within five of 2,000 for her career.
The Green Terror returns to action at home in a trimatch against Haverford and FDU-Florham on Saturday. Action begins at 12 p.m.
