Box Score WESTMINSTER, Md. – Muhlenberg scored 43 points in the second half to overcome a six-point halftime deficit and defeat McDaniel 61-50 in Centennial Conference (CC) men's basketball action on Saturday.
Phillip Perry (Crownsville, Md./Annapolis Area Christian) scored 17 points to lead the Green Terror (11-7, 6-6 CC), who dropped its third straight game, holding a lead at halftime in all three games.
Jon Shreer paced the Mules (9-10, 4-8 CC) to the season sweep in the series with 19 points. Brandon LaRose added 12 points.
Muhlenberg put together an 8-1 run out of the locker room keyed by triples from Schreer and Nick Rindock for a 26-25 lead with 17:22 to play.
Perry responded with a layup but another Schreer 3-pointer put the guests on top 29-27 before Perry once again responded to knot the game with 15:48 to play.
Another Schreer 3-pointer and LaRose layup extended the Mule lead to five with 14:28 showing.
McDaniel trimmed the deficit to 35-34 on a Nick Perugino (Lewes, Del./Salesianum) 3-pointer with 12:10 remaining but Muhlenberg responded with a meandering 16-4 run to go on top by 13 with 1:49 to play en route to the 11-point win.
A Nick Melosky 3-pointer capped a 10-4 start to the game for the Mules before a Cameron Royster (Derwood, Md./Magruder) layup and back-to-back baskets from Perry evened the game at 10-all.
Layups from Wes Brooks (North Wales, Pa./North Penn) and Royster gave McDaniel a 14-10 lead with 6:10 to play in the opening half.
Tied at 16-all, Perry and Perugino each hit 3-pointers to booked an 8-2 close to the first half.
Brooks chipped in three assists and four steals to go with his four points.
McDaniel returns to action at Valley Forge on Monday. Game time is 7 p.m.
