Escobar, Phillips record three shots

TOWSON, Md. – Goucher scored in the 54th minute and made the lone goal stand for a 1-0 win over McDaniel in non-conference men's soccer action on Wednesday.

Edgar Escobar (Silver Spring, Md./Springbrook) and Spencer Phillips (Ellicott City, Md./Howard) led the Green Terror (2-1) with three shots apiece, accounting for 60 percent of their team's shots.

Luis Gomes finished a Nate Margolis assist for the Gophers (2-1) at the 53:28 mark to register the game's lone goal.

Escobar and Phillips each took two of their shots after the Goucher marker but Nicholas Stolarz made three of his seven saves in the final 36 minutes to preserve the shutout.

McDaniel finished with a 10-5 advantage in shots and 7-1 advantage in corner kicks.

The Green Terror returns to action at Rosemont on Saturday. Game time is 2 p.m.
