Box Score 2 ALLENTOWN, Pa. – Lexi Corral (Gaithersburg, Md./Gaithersburg) recorded 17 kills and seven total blocks to lead McDaniel to a volleyball split, including dropping the Centennial Conference (CC) opener to Muhlenberg 3-2, on Saturday.
The Green Terror (10-3, 0-1 CC) forged the split on the day with a 3-0 win over Cedar Crest.
In the conference opener with the Mules (13-2, 1-0 CC), McDaniel took the opening set 25-14 before the hosts took a pair of two-point sets, 26-24 and 25-23, to take a 2-1 lead. The Green Terror forced a fifth set with a 25-18 win before the Mules prevailed in the deciding set, 15-9.
Against the Falcons (1-8), McDaniel earned the sweep, 25-17, 25-5, 25-15.
Corral and Emme Pette (Ellicott City, Md./Mt. Hebron) led the attack with nine kills each. Corral added four blocks. Haley Duff (Montgomery Village, Md./Gaithersburg) and Alyssa Gilboy (Marlton, N.J./Cherokee) steadied the defense with 10 digs each. Julia Wainwright (Princeton Junction, N.J./West Windsor-Plainsboro North) and Sarah Donnelly (Wilmington, Del./Archmere Academy) joined Duff with three aces.
Rebecca Grady led Cedar Crest with seven kills.
Kloe Martin (Littleton, Colo./Heritage) led the way against Muhlenberg with 15 kills while Reagan Folaron (Colorado Springs, Colo./Cheyenne Mountain) added 10. Martin finished off a double-double with 15 digs while Folaron added 10 for her first collegiate double-double. Genna Weger (Shrewsbury, Pa./Shrewsbury) led the defense with 22 digs.
Clinging to an 8-7 lead in the deciding set, Katherin Boll notched one of her team-leading 12 kills for the Mules to spark a 6-0 run that stretched the lead to 14-7 en route to the 15-9 win.
The Green Terror returns to action at Haverford on Wednesday. Match time is 7 p.m.
