Box Score CARLISLE, Pa. – Dickinson scored eight straight points midway through the second half to seal a 53-38 victory over McDaniel in Centennial Conference (CC) men's basketball action on Tuesday.
Cameron Royster (Derwood, Md./Magruder) paced the Green Terror (4-2, 1-2 CC) with 10 points.
Steve Collins led the 12th-ranked Red Devils (5-1, 2-1 CC) with 17 points while Gerry Wixted added 10.
A Collins 3-pointer staked Dickinson to a 4-0 lead in the game's first 1:29 before Phillip Perry (Crownsville, Md./Annapolis Area Christian) answered with an elbow jumper to cut the deficit in half.
An Andrew Merlo (Rehoboth, Del./Cape Henlopen) layup and two free throws from Royster closed the deficit to 11-10 with 12:01 on the clock.
A Ted Hinnenkamp layup nearly a minute later stretched the lead back to three before Merlo banked in a 3-pointer from the top of the arc to even the game with 9:22 showing.
A Wes Brooks (North Wales, Pa./North Penn) 18-foot jumper from the left wing gave McDaniel its first lead with 7:10 on the clock but Wixted responded with a layup on the other end to even the game once again to snap a 4-minute, 17-second drought for the hosts.
Three Brandon Angradi free throws with 5:33 showing gave the Red Devils an 18-17 edge.
Two Hinnenkamp free throws and a Collins layup stretched the advantage to 24-19 with 1:22 left in the half.
Perry returned the deficit to three before Collins drilled a trey just before the first-half buzzer to make it a 27-21 game at the break.
A Wixted layup and five straight points from Collins stretched the lead to 36-23 with 16:04 to play.
Royster converted the game's first field goal in a 5-minute, 33-second span, hitting a layup to make it a 37-27 game with 10:04 to play.
Chris Cox gave the hosts their first points from the floor in 6 minutes, 23 seconds with a layup 23 ticks later, sparking the 8-0 game-clinching burst in the process.
Merlo finished with seven points while Stewart and Perry added six points each. Nic Martin (Hagerstown, Md./St. Maria Goretti) led the way on the glass with five rebounds.
The Green Terror returns to action at home against Ursinus on Saturday. Game time is 3 p.m.
