Box Score WESTMINSTER, Md. – Washington (Md.) scored seven of the match's final 10 points to record a 15-12 victory in the deciding set to top McDaniel 3-2 in Centennial Conference (CC) volleyball action on Saturday.
Madeline Rose (Soddy Daisy, Tenn./Baylor High) led the Green Terror (18-11, 3-7 CC) with 17 kills, hitting .517 in the process. She also added four total blocks.
Caitlin Cooney led four players in double-digit kills for the Shorewomen (19-9, 3-7 CC) with 18.
Trailing 9-8, a pair of attack errors gave Washington a 10-9 lead before an apparent kill was ruled to have hit the antennae, resulting in a point to the visitors an 11-9 advantage.
A Kloe Martin (Littleton, Colo./Heritage) killed closed the deficit to 12-11 but Alexis Jordan wrapped things up with her 12th kill of the day to wrap up the 15-12 win.
The two teams exchanged close victories in the first two sets. The Shorewomen took the opening set 25-21 before the hosts rallied to even the match with a 25-22 win.
Washington jumped out to a 14-7 lead in the third set en route to a 25-17 victory and a 2-1 lead in the match.
In the fourth set, it was McDaniel jumping out to an 8-3 advantage before tallying a 25-19 victory to force the deciding set.
Lexi Corral (Gaithersburg, Md./Gaithersburg) added 10 kills and six blocks. Maddie Moyer (Brookeville, Md./Sherwood) added 32 assists to the attack while Colette Kellen (Olney, Md./Covenant Life) added 20 helpers.
Genna Weger (Shrewsbury, Pa./Shrewsbury) steadied the defense with 22 digs while Reagan Folaron (Colorado Springs, Colo./Cheyenne Mountain) added 10 digs.
The Green Terror will now have to wait until Monday, Nov. 10 to see if it earns an ECAC tournament bid.
