Box Score WESTMINSTER, Md. – Gettysburg scored a goal in each half to top McDaniel 2-1 in Centennial Conference (CC) women's soccer action on Wednesday.
Julia Pope (Manchester, Md./North Carroll) scored for the Green Terror (8-4-3, 2-3-2 CC), breaking up the shutout in the 53rd minute.
Georgia Ferguson scored in the first half for the Bullets (10-3-1, 6-0-1 CC), giving the visitors a lead they wouldn't relinquish.
Ferguson played a ball around her defender directly off a throw-in before finishing just under the crossbar for a 1-0 lead at the 16:44 mark.
The lead held until Molly Phillips headed in a Lauren Shapiro corner kick in the 48th minute.
A Nicole Hill (Bowie, Md./Bowie) corner kick went across the field untouched until Pope knocked the ball just inside the left post to cut the deficit in half and snap Gettysburg's 539-minute, 59-second shutout streak. It was the first goal allowed by the Bullets in the month of October.
Gettysburg finished with a slim 10-7 edge in shots, including by a 7-2 margin in the decisive first half.
McDaniel returns to action at Haverford on Saturday. Game time is 1 p.m.
