Box Score SWARTHMORE, Pa. – Swarthmore scored twice in a 2-minute, 25-second span to key a 3-1 win over McDaniel in Centennial Conference (CC) women's soccer action on Saturday.
Kristen Upton (Chalfont, Pa./Central Bucks South) led the Green Terror (8-3-3, 2-2-2 CC) with her first collegiate goal.
Hannah Lichtenstein scored twice to pace the Garnet (9-4, 4-3 CC) in a key game in the conference standings. Swarthmore now sits in the fifth and final playoff spot with three games to play.
Lichtenstein finished a Miranda Saldivar long cross at the 26:48 mark before one-touching a short pass from Emma Sindelar in the 30th minute for a 2-0 lead.
Upton cut the deficit in half in the 34th minute, heading home an Erica Diffendal (Westminster, Md./Winters Mill) corner kick.
Caroline Khanna reestablished the two-goal advantage just 2:01 before halftime for what would be the final margin.
McDaniel finished with a 7-4 advantage in shots in the second half but couldn't convert. Both teams finished with 10 shots for the contest.
The Green Terror finished with a 6-2 edge in corner kicks.
Haley Jacobs (Forest Hill, Md./North Harford) and Sarah McDonald (Yardley, Pa./Pennsbury) split time in goal, making one save each. Reba Magier made four stops for the Garnet.
McDaniel returns to action at home against Gettysburg on Wednesday. Game time is 3:30 p.m.
