Box Score LANCASTER, Pa. – Franklin & Marshall scored the final six points of the third set to wrap up a 3-0 win over McDaniel in Centennial Conference (CC) volleyball action on Wednesday.
Madeline Rose (Soddy Daisy, Tenn./Baylor High) and Reagan Folaron (Colorado Springs, Colo./Cheyenne Mountain) led the attack for the Green Terror (18-6, 3-4 CC), recording seven kills apiece. Rose hit .500 on the night while Folaron hit .278.
Ellie Ezekiel led the Diplomats (13-9, 3-4 CC) with 16 kills, hitting .406, while Julie Havery added 13 kills with a .579 hitting percentage.
Tied at 4-all in the first set, a Harvey kill and back-to-back Shae Murphy aces opened up a 7-4 advantage that the hosts never relinquished.
A Kloe Martin (Littleton, Colo./Heritage) kill and Franklin & Marshall error closed the deficit to 20-17 out of a timeout but Alyssa Sanchez capped a 5-2 finish with one of her three aces for a 25-19 win.
Trailing 6-5 in the second set, Jaclyn Laforgia recorded a kill and ace before a Martin kill made it 7-all.
An Ezekiel kill and back-to-back Harvey knockdowns turned a 9-8 edge into a 12-8 advantage en route to a 25-15 victory.
Trailing 11-7, a Folaron kill started a 4-0 burst that evened the third set at 11-all.
Deadlocked at 18-all on a Julia Wainwright (Princeton Junction, N.J./West Windsor-Plainsboro North) kill, a Folaron kill and three straight Diplomat errors gave the Green Terror a 22-18 lead.
Laforgia and Folaron traded knockdowns before Ezekiel put down back-to-back kills out of a timeout to close the deficit to 23-21.
Out of a McDaniel timeout, two Harvey kills around a Sanchez ace made it match point and a Harvey block closed the match.
Genna Weger (Shrewsbury, Pa./Shrewsbury) led the Green Terror defense with 19 digs. Colette Kellen (Olney, Md./Covenant Life) added 17 assists while Maddie Moyer (Brookeville, Md./Sherwood) had 11 helpers.
McDaniel returns to action in a trimatch at St. Mary's (Md.) with Mary Washington on Saturday. Action begins at 3 p.m.
