Box Score FREDERICK, Md. – McDaniel scored twice in the final 24 minutes to notch a 3-2 victory at Hood in non-conference men's soccer action on Tuesday.
Spencer Phillips (Ellicott City, Md./Howard) led the Green Terror (7-5-1) with his first collegiate goal and added the assist on the game-winning goal.
Juliano Pillari and Drew Demich scored for the Blazers (7-6), giving the hosts a 2-1 edge 10:21 into the second half.
Trailing by one in the 67th minute, Andrew Hofmeister's (Baltimore, Md./McDonogh) throw-in from the right side went all the through the defense. Kerry Shutt (Lewisburg, Pa./Lewisburg Area) was waiting on the backside and slipped the ball into a wide-open net to knot the game at 2.
In the 85th minute, Phillips flicked a ball that came into the box back out to the top, where Sean Foley (Aberdeen, Md./The Tome School) one-timed it into the back of the net for the game-winner.
After having an early goal called back on an offside, the Green Terror continued to carry play in the first half before Hofmeister found Phillips in the 30th minute for the junior's first tally.
JP O'Connor (Forest Hill, Md./Archbishop Curley) had a chance to double the advantage 1:26 into the second half but blasted a ball off the crossbar.
Hood seized momentum after the miss before Pillari crossed in a blast from the top of the 18 in the 53rd minute for the equalizer.
Nearly three minutes later, Hood was awarded a penalty kick after a takedown in the box and Demich converted for the 2-1 lead.
Nick Over (Westminster, Md./Winters Mill) made six saves for the win.
The Blazers finished with a slim 13-11 edge in shots while the Green Terror had a 6-4 edge in corner kicks.
McDaniel returns to action at Swarthmore on Saturday. Game time is 7 p.m.
