Box Score TOWSON, Md. – McDaniel opened up a 12-4 lead in the third set en route to a 3-0 win over Goucher in non-conference volleyball action on Wednesday.
Lexi Corral (Gaithersburg, Md./Gaithersburg) hit .700 for the Green Terror (14-4), recording eight kills against just one error on 10 attempts. Madeline Rose (Soddy Daisy, Tenn./Baylor High) added five kills, four aces and four blocks.
Hannah Kuehl led the Gophers (7-11) with nine kills.
One of Julia Wainwright's (Princeton Junction, N.J./West Windsor-Plainsboro North) three aces helped McDaniel jump out to a 6-3 lead in the first set.
A pair of Rose aces during a 6-0 run helped extend the lead to 16-8 en route to a 25-14 victory in the opening set.
The second set went back-and-forth before a Malia Bruce ace made it a 23-21 score and forced a Green Terror timeout.
Out of the break, Corral recorded a kill to turn the serve over to Maddie Moyer (Brookeville, Md./Sherwood), who knocked down her lone ace of the night for a 25-21 win.
Back-to-back aces from Rose made it 12-4 in the third set en route to a 25-15 victory.
Kloe Martin (Littleton, Colo./Heritage) led the attack with 10 kills while Caroline Savin (Shrewsbury, Pa./Shrewsbury) and Emme Petti (Ellicott City, Md./Mt. Hebron) added six kills each. Savin recorded her six knockdowns without an error on just eight attempts to hit .750.
Moyer added 18 assists and a team-high 10 digs while Colette Kellen (Olney, Md./Covenant Life) chipped in 14 assists and nine digs.
McDaniel returns to action at home in a trimatch with Ursinus and Penn Sate-Harrisburg on Saturday. Action begins at 12 p.m.
