Hofmeister tallies two assists

WESTMINSTER, Md. – McDaniel scored a pair of first-half goals to down Penn State-Harrisburg 2-0 in non-conference men's soccer action on Tuesday.

Andrew Hofmeister (Baltimore, Md./McDonogh) recorded the assist on both goals for the Green Terror (6-1-1), who doubled up the Lions (3-4) in shots, 18-9.

Deven Gerhart made four saves in the first half for Penn State-Harrisburg while Brandon Hoover made two in the second half. The Lion goalkeepers also got help from their defenders with two back saves.

Zach Nibbelink (Hampstead, Md./North Carroll) made four saves of his own for McDaniel.

In the 13th minute, Hofmeister threw the ball into the box that Shane McCracken (Marriottsville, Md./Liberty) bicycle kicked out of the air and into the far side of the net for a 1-0 lead.

In the 37th minute, Edgar Escobar (Silver Spring, Md./Springbrook) sent a corner kick in from the right side. Hofmeister returned the ball to the right sideline, where Escobar blasted the ball back through the defense and by a diving keeper into the upper corner on the backside for the 2-0 advantage.

The Green Terror returns to action at Washington (Md.) on Saturday. Game time is 7 p.m.
